The Cubs haven't made huge coaching changes yet, but they will be bringing in outsiders to join David Ross' staff in 2020. On Thursday, former Phillies pitching coach and ex-Astros scout Chris Young was reportedly hired as the team's newest bullpen coach, replacing Lester Strode.
You can add quality assurance coach as another position that will see a switch this offseason.
Like Strode, it's unclear if Chris Denorfia will remain with the Cubs in a different position next season. You'd imagine that the Cubs want to keep Denorfia, as they brought him into the organization in 2018 as a special assistant and then created the quality assurance position to add him to Joe Maddon's coaching staff in 2019.
Denorfia has a connection with Jed Hoyer going back to their days in San Diego. The Cubs signed him in 2015, which was the last season Denorfia played in the majors.
So, the Cubs will have a new bench coach, third base coach, already have a new bullpen coach and now they have another spot open for Ross to bring in a new voice to the coaching staff.
As far as the other prominent coaching positions, The Athletic is reporting that Tommy Hottovy, Anthony Iapoce and Mike Borzello will return in 2020.

As the Cubs make changes throughout their baseball operations department, Ross’ staff is taking shape with Chris Young hired as the new bullpen coach, and pitching coach Tommy Hottovy, hitting coach Anthony Iapoce and catching/strategy coach Mike Borzello expected to remain in those roles again next season, sources said Thursday.
Hottovy and Iapoce were hired last offseason, while Borzello has been with the Cubs since 2011.
