Well, it looks like the Cubs will indeed be the winners of the Craig Kimbrel sweepstakes. Something could pop up last minute, but it seems like a deal is nearing between Kimbrel and the Cubs. According to Patrick Mooney and Ken Rosenthal, the Cubs are working to close a deal to sign the right-handed closer.
Theo Epstein all but said the Cubs were pursuing Kimbrel before Wednesday night's game at Wrigley Field.
MLB reporters Jon Morosi and Peter Gammons both said on Wednesday that the Cubs are the team most likely to sign Kimbrel.
Kimbrel has 333 career saves. Looks like he'll be with the Cubs soon.
UPDATE
Literally seconds after I hit publish on this article, Ken Rosenthal broke the news. Cubs are signing Kimbrel!
