No one's favorite Crane Kenney was on 670 The Score Thursday morning and the Cubs president of baseball operations shared some important updates for fans.
Spring training 2.0 is set to kick off July 1, and although we're not quite sure what teams will do in terms of playing games (intrasquad games?) you probably expect those to be televised. Good news for Cubs fans, as Kenney said Thursday morning that negotiations between Marquee and Comcast have picked up and a deal could be done soon.
As far as fans attending games at Wrigley Field, Kenney said the Cubs do anticipate getting to the point where people can go to games this season.
Earlier this week Illinois governor J.B. Pritzker released guidelines for phase four of reopening the state, which included allowing residents to attend sporting events. However, there are restrictions, as attendance is limited to 20% capacity.
And yes, you're still going to have to follow social distancing guidelines and wear masks at the friendly confines.
Wrigley Field's capacity is 41,649, so up to 8,329 fans would be allowed under the 20% capacity restriction.
Meanwhile, rooftops are expected to be open when the season begins next month.
Opening Day will be July 23 or 24.
