Last night David Bote hit his first career walk-off grand slam and it was an ultimate grand slam, as the Chicago Cubs were down 3-0 with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Whoever did that, I think we're best friends now.
Bote now has three home runs this season and the last two have either tied or won the game for the Cubs in the ninth inning.
And it was the first time since 1936 that a player hit an "ultimate grand slam" meaning the team was down 3-0 at the time of the walk-off.
Oh and it was the second walk-off grand slam of the season for the Cubs.
Back to Bote. The rookie is slashing .329/.418/.539, in 91 plate appearances, already putting up a 1.2 fWAR in 34 games. He's done more than enough to fill in for the injured Kris Bryant, who's missed all but 10 games since June 22 until now. After Bote's latest heroics, someone edited his Wikipedia page it was perfect.
Whoever did that, I think we're best friends now.
