Araujo, 25, from the Dominican Republic began his playing career in 2011, after the Cubs signed him. He was in the Dominican Summer League from 2011-14, played in Arizona for 10 games in 2014 as well and then appeared in Single-A in 2015. He had mixed results, but overall put up decent numbers in the minor leagues. The righty pitched 341.2 innings and recorded a 2.63 ERA with 394 strikeouts before the Orioles picked him up. Araujo struggled in the majors, posting a 7.71 ERA in 28 innings last year and in just one appearance in 2019, he gave up two runs on a homer. After this trade, he was sent back to the minors.
But hey, the Cubs got some cash! Good, I guess.
