There's no way the Cubs thought Nick Castellanos was going to be this good right away after trading for him on July 31, but thank goodness they did because he's been carrying the offense for two weeks.
After two more hits in a losing effort on Tuesday night, Castellanos improved his batting average to .380, and he also hit his fifth home run with the Cubs in just 12 games. The right-handed hitter has posted a 1.215 OPS and 207 wRC+ in 53 plate appearances since being traded by the Tigers.
This wild stat was shared last night, showing just how big of an impact Castellanos has made in his first two weeks with the Cubs.
More than 1/3 of the total hits? Yeah, that stat was crazy for a reason, mainly because it's not right. Yet, there is another badass stat for Castellanos that also shows how sad the rest of the Cubs offense has been.
So, before entering Wednesday night's game, Castellanos is 19-for-50. Since his Cubs debut, the team has 107 hits.

I mean, 18% of the total hits through 12 games is still wild, but here's the crazier stat. Since Castellanos joined the Cubs, the team has 42 extra base hits.
Castellanos by himself has 26% of them.
So, Castellanos has been great, while the rest of the offense is still struggling to find some consistency away from Wrigley Field.
