Matt Davidson made his first ever appearance as a pitcher against the Rangers last season, when he was with the White Sox and now he's still trying to make it as a reliever, but he looked pretty bad against Ben Zobrist and the Cubs on Friday.
Zobrist arrived to Cubs camp a little late and hasn't had many plate appearances during spring training, but he jumped all over this Davidson pitch for a home run. It's Zobrist's first long ball in Arizona this year.
Davidson gave up an infield single to start the inning, but did get two quick outs afterward, including a strikeout. Yet, following two stolen bases, Davidson threw a wild pitch that allowed a run to score and then on the next pitch Zobrist took him deep to right field. Davidson then allowed another hard-hit single to left before he was pulled.

Last offseason the Chicago Cubs absolutely needed to acquire a top hitter and they got Kyle Tucker from the Houston Astros. Now, heading into the 2026 season Jed Hoyer's top priority was to upgrade the rotation and he's delivered by trading for 27-year-old pitcher Edward Cabrera from the Miami...
