Fans going to Sloan Park on March 1, will get to see Yu Darvish's
Chicago Cubs debut in spring training, as the newly-acquired starter will pitch against the Colorado Rockies.
The Cubs announced next week's starting pitchers and we'll get to see the whole rotation for the first time this spring. It begins with fellow newcomer Tyler Chatwood getting the start on Monday. He'll be followed by Jon Lester, Kyle Hendricks, Darvish and Jose Quintana.
Mike Montgomery will also get his first action on Wednesday, pitching after Hendricks.
As you'd expect, the starters won't pitch much, simply an inning to get going in early on.
Lester's start comes against the White Sox and fans will get to watch that game on WGN, with first pitch scheduled for 2:05 p.m. CST. Fans will also get to watch Quintana's start on March 2, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. That game will begin at 2:10 p.m.
And for those of you who just can't wait to see Darvish, here's some video of his first bullpen session as a member of the Cubs.
We still don't know how the starting rotation will go in order, but Joe Maddon did have a lot of high praise for Lester earlier this week, so he could be sticking with the veteran lefty, who has made two of the last three Opening Day starts for the Cubs.
