Tired of seeing Adam Engel hit in the bottom of the lineup and start in center field for the White Sox? Well, good news, he's been optioned to Triple-A and taking his place is Charlie Tilson.
The White Sox made a few moves before their series opener against Cleveland on Monday and that included Tilson getting called up for Engel.
Reliever Ryan Burr is also back from the injured list. He's taking Caleb Frare's place in the White Sox bullpen.
Engel had a slash line of .212/.281/.346 in 52 at-bats this season. Just didn't show that he could be a reliable hitter in a Major League lineup and now Tilson will get another shot.
If you remember back to 2016, the White Sox traded left-hander Zach Duke to the Cardinals for Tilson. The outfielder made his MLB debut against the Tigers on Aug. 2, 2016, and unfortunately Tilson suffered an injury trying to make a catch in right-center field.
He missed all of 2017, but did come back to play for the White Sox in 2018. Overall in 42 MLB games, Tilson has slashed .269/.333/.296.
This year at Triple-A, Tilson hit .333, with a .871 OPS in 25 games.
He's in Monday's lineup and will most likely get a lot of playing time this week against right-handed starters.
