Eloy Jimenez Lands On Injured List, Luis Robert Still Not Called Up

For the second time this season, White Sox rookie left fielder Eloy Jimenez is on the injured list. He was sent back to Chicago after Tuesday night's game in Kansas City and the team has announced that Jimenez has a nerve contusion in his right elbow.

Jimenez collided with Charlie Tilson in the first inning and exited the game right after.

White Sox fans got somewhat excited early on Wednesday, as star prospect Luis Robert wasn't in the lineup for the Charlotte Knights at Triple-A.

However, that was just an off day for the center fielder, as Ryan Goins has been called up instead to replace Jimenez on the 25-man roster.

The infielder will make his White Sox debut tonight against the Royals, making the start at shortstop, while the versatile Leury Garcia goes back to center field.

Goins, 31, made his MLB debut with the Blue Jays in 2013. He's played in 490 big league games, posting a .607 career OPS in nearly 1,400 MLB at-bats. He played in 41 games with the Royals last year, slashing .226/.252/.313.

Jimenez is expected to miss two weeks. Meanwhile, White Sox GM Rick Hahn is making it clear that there won't be a position change anytime soon (there shouldn't be...yet) and that Robert will be staying down in Triple-A.
