Nate Jones made his MLB debut with the White Sox in 2012 and instantly proved he could be a weapon in the bullpen. The right-hander posted a 2.39 ERA in 71.2 innings, striking out 65 batters in 65 appearances. Then, he came back to Earth in 2013, putting up a mediocre 4.15 ERA in 78 innings and it got even worse the following season needing a back surgery and Tommy John surgery on his pitching elbow.
Jones missed almost all of 2014, appearing in only two games and returned to the White Sox bullpen in late 2015. He once again showed his dominance as a reliever in 2016, appearing in a career high 71 games, striking out 80 and recording a 2.29 ERA and 0.89 WHIP/
The White Sox signed Jones to a three-year contract extension after the 2015 season, but outside of his best season in 2016, Jones hasn't been able to stay healthy and his latest injury might just point to the end of his time on the South Side.
After making 13 appearances this season, Jones was placed on the injured list last week. Now, the White Sox have moved him to the 60-day injured list with a forearm injury.
Jones had a 3.48 ERA and 1.65 WHIP in 10.1 innings this year before landing on the IL.
The White Sox have a club option worth $5.15 million after this season and then a $6 million mutual option for 2021. After pitching 41.2 innings in 2017-18 combined, and another arm injury, Nate Jones is most likely done with the White Sox.
