Don't look now but the White Sox are playing fun baseball for the first time in...well I don't even remember. April/May of 2016?
After splitting 4 games with the Houston Astros, the Sox ran into a buzzsaw in Minnesota. Then they swept the Royals and took the first of 4 from Cleveland with arguably their worst starter going in Manny Banuelos.
It was a game that had tons of positives for the Sox and their fans. Eloy had 3 hits, Abreu hit his 15th bomb, Leury Garcia had his 3rd straight game with 3 hits, Moncada had 2 hits, and even Banuelos had a solid night.
The offense is hot, putting up a 10 spot tonight. The next 3 games will have Ivan Nova, Dylan Covey, and red hot Lucas Giolito going for the South Siders. Although inconsistent, Nova and Covey have been solid to very good when they are on. And Giolito is arguably the hottest pitcher in baseball. At this point the fans should be upset if they don't take at least 3 of 4 from the Tribe. Then they get a pair with Washington before another set with the lowly Royals.
In short, this could end up being a great stretch for the White Sox.
The Sox will go to bed tonight 2 games out of a Wild Card spot. Bring up Dylan Cease and trade for another starter (Stroman? Greinke?) and let's ride. I'm not saying this team is good enough for a playoff race. But their offense is above average and they have a top 10 bullpen in baseball. If they shore up the rotation who knows what can happen. At the very least they should be interesting in July.
After the offseason the White Sox just had, i'm sure fans would take that in an instant.
