"Jerry Reinsdorf Must Go" Banner Ripped Away from Fans by White Sox Security

Chicago White Sox are sick and tired of Jerry Reinsdorf running their favorite baseball team and they're making sure he knows they want him out. During Friday night's game at Guaranteed Rate Field, fans displayed a big banner in the stands that read, "“42 years of ownership, 7 playoff appearances," with "Jerry Reinsdorf must go," in bright red lettering.

That banner was quickly ripped away from those White Sox fans by stadium security.

Here's the moment in which the protest sign was taken away.

On Thursday, Reinsdorf spoke to the media prior to Chris Getz's introduction as the team's newly hired VP and GM for the White Sox.

During his address to reporters, Reinsdorf pushed back at criticism about the way he has handled the White Sox since he purchased the team in the 1980s.

He also made it clear that he has no intention to sell the White Sox.

Under his ownership, the White Sox have made the postseason in 1983, 1993, 2000, 2005, 2008, 2020 and 2021. The only time the team has advanced in the playoffs was in 2005, when the White Sox won the World Series.

During his time with the media on Thursday, in which he did not take any questions, Reinsdorf said he does not want to embark in another rebuild, while also saying he has no intention to pursuit the best free agent available in the offseason. He also appeared confused as to why fans think the White Sox do not spend a lot of money in free agency.

The White Sox remain one of three teams to have never signed a player to a $100 million contract, along with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Kansas City Royals.

Following Friday night's 4-2 loss to the Detroit Tigers, the White Sox dropped to 53-82. They are on pace to lose 99 games this season.
