Let's start this with some dingers.
Your new favorite beefy boy, Yermin Mercedes launched his second spring training home run on Friday, blasting a grand slam against Cleveland.
Later on, Andrew Vaughn tacked on to the lead as he drilled a solo home run to left field as well.
Meanwhile, White Sox pitching prospect Michael Kopech is progressing nicely and he could make his spring training debut soon.
White Sox manager Rick Renteria gave an even more optimistic outlook on Kopech, who is said to be ahead of schedule, as the right-hander returns from Tommy John surgery.

“Honestly, he’s looking far more advanced than most people might think,” Renteria said about Kopech, who is six months ahead of Dunning in his return from Tommy John. “I think he’s commanding a lot better. Changeup, breaking ball, fastball, the misses are minimal. The ball is coming out of his hand loose and hot. Looks really good.”
On the other hand White Sox catcher Yasmani Grandal has been slowed down since early February with a calf strain and although he has been participating in live BP and other team workouts the White Sox are taking the cautious route for his rehab.

“You don’t want to get on the field and do something you’ve never done before,” Grandal said. “So we’re trying to cover every single area that’s available to us and what we think we need to make sure we’re safe out there.”
“Oh, we're going to get in games,” Grandal said. “We have it planned out. We gave ourselves room to make sure I'm playing back-to-back days, make sure I'm playing three days in a row. We gave [ourselves] some room for error.”
Grandal is still expected to miss the first 7-10 games of spring training.

On Thursday, Edwin Encarnación was scratched from the White Sox lineup because of a back issue, but he said on Saturday that it's nothing to worry about.
Left-handed starter Gio Gonzalez threw his first side session after being sidelined with a sore shoulder to begin spring training.
Lastly, Zack Collins almost feels resigned to the fact that he doesn't have a spot on the Opening Day roster.
