The 2020 MLB season is scheduled to begin in late July, but will fans be able to attend games? According to 670 The Score's Danny Parkins, the White Sox are planning to play with fans in attendance at Guaranteed Rate Field.
Earlier this week, Illinois governor J. B. Pritzker said as part of phase four of reopening the state that fans could attend sporting events at a 20% capacity.
Parkins tweeted on Wednesday that the White Sox are set to welcome back fans, while not getting confirmation from the Cubs as of yet.
The maximum capacity at Guaranteed Rate Field is 40,615, which means up to 8,123 fans will be able to attend games on the south side when the season begins later this summer.
Meanwhile, Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot said the city isn't quite ready to let fans attend games, but that could ultimately change with time.
Opening Day in MLB will be on July 23 or 24.
