There were several reports flying around about the White Sox on Monday, as they were once again linked to Edwin Encarnación and Nick Castellanos. Yet, it seems like the interest in Encarnación is more serious and talks appear to be close to the finish line with the right-handed slugger.
670 The Score's Bruce Levine was the first to report that the White Sox met with Encarnación's reps at the Winter Meetings. Levine followed up his report on Tuesday, essentially saying it's just a matter of when not if the White Sox will sign Encarnación.
More reports have followed on Tuesday with Hector Gomez saying he's heard a deal for Encarnación will be between $12-$15 million.
There's also the possibility that a deal for Encarnación could include an option for 2021.
Encarnación played for the Mariners and Yankees in 2019, and despite being 36-years-old he still smashed 34 home runs and had a .344 OBP in 109 games. The White Sox would essentially be adding another Jose Abreu to the lineup.
