Uh Oh: Jerry Reinsdorf Is Making Moves Fans May Not Like

Most fans of the White Sox and Bulls are not fond of their owner. They feel as if he is holding back when it comes to the payroll of the team. They are not wrong, as the White Sox are one of only three teams to not give out a 100 million dollar contract and the Bulls were one of the only "competing" teams not in the luxury tax. But it has been reported that Jerry Reinsdorf is buying up a controlling stake in Stadium.

Other Moves In Mind?

It was reported today that Jerry has now taken over majority ownership in the sports network Stadium, a company in which he was one of the original founders.

This is not good news for people who currently are happy with the way that the Sox and Bulls games are broadcasted. If they do not resign with NBC Sports there will be some very big changes in how fans will be watching the Sox and Bulls.

This move comes after there has been a lot of talk about people having many issues with Bally sports and how difficult it is to be able to watch the games through them, as it is typically separate from their cable packages. Dallas Mavericks fans were seen complaining to Mark Cuban about how they have big issues with watching their favorite team's game. This is not something Chicago fans want to deal with.

This happened momentarily with the Cubs, as when they started Marquee Sports, there was a big problem with the cable companies adopting it as a channel, and it lead to many people having to call their providers and demand they pick up the channel.

If this happens to Sox and Bulls fans, they might truly be done with the team, as Jerry has not given them much to watch in the first place.

No More NBC Sports?

If Jerry does decide to create his own network to stream Sox and Bulls games, I can guarantee you it will be a complete mess. It is easy to watch the games now on NBC Sports, but creating a new network to watch them on will create mass issues for not only fans but cable companies as well.

If they make the games harder to watch by making fans pay extra for these networks, the fans may revolt. Not only that but bars and restaurants may not have access to these channels for that reason, making it even more difficult for fans to watch their favorite teams.

Another issue will be who will call the games for each team. Right now, both Sox and Bulls fans love their announcers. Steve Stone and Jason Benetti are some of the best baseball announcers in the game, and they make the game considerably more entertaining. The same can be said for Stacey King. If they don't move them over to a new network, fans will be extremely upset.

Change is good. But when you are messing with the way that people watch their favorite teams, they won't like it very much. If Jerry does decide to start his own network and it makes it difficult or expensive to watch the games, his already low popularity will drop and people may boycott them altogether.
