There isn’t much reason to watch the Chicago White Sox these days and the organization knows it. On Thursday the White Sox will be giving fans discounted tickets and free parking.
Monday’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks had to be postponed due to heavy rain in the Bronx over the weekend which forced the Diamondbacks and Yankees game that was scheduled for Saturday to be pushed back to Monday. The White Sox then were forced to move their Monday game against the Diamondbacks to their initially scheduled off day on Thursday.
The Diamondbacks are in the middle of a tightly contested NL Wild Card race so it is imperative that they get every game in. The Dbacks are currently tied with the Cubs for the final Wild Card spots with the Marlins just one game back and the Reds lurking only 2.5 games back.
The first pitch at Guaranteed Rate Field Thursday will be at 1:10 p.m. Tickets were available on the White Sox website for just $0.89 starting Monday. All season ticket holders, suite holders, and patio ticket holders were refunded and given free tickets to the game.
Refunds will also be available for fans who already purchased a ticket to Monday’s game.
The gesture of goodwill from the organization still might not be enough to get people to pack the stands. The team is marching towards a 100-loss season and Luis Robert Jr. may be out for the season with an injury.
Robert is really the only redeeming quality the White Sox have at the moment. However, if you love baseball and have nothing to do in the middle of a work day there are worse things you could be doing than watching a young exciting team play the White Sox.
