While not considered major moves, the White Sox did make room on their 40-man roster on Monday, when they announced that they outrighted four players.
Left-handed pitcher Manny Bañuelos, outfielder Ryan Cordell along with infielders Ryan Goins and Matt Skole have been outrighted and after the World Series ends they'll be minor league free agents. With the moves, the White Sox 40-man roster is down to 35.
After battling injuries for several years Bañuelos finally made it back on an Opening Day roster with the White Sox in 2019. Unfortunately, the lefty suffered a few more injuries throughout the season, limiting him to 50.2 innings in 16 total appearances.
Cordell played in nearly 100 games for the White Sox in 2019, but other than a hot week at the plate in the middle of April the right-handed hitter just didn't pan out as some White Sox fans had hoped for. He finished 2019, with a .645 OPS in 217 at-bats.
Skole was one of several left-handed hitters who provided close to nothing at the plate for the 2019 White Sox. His time with the team this past season will most likely be remembered thanks only to him being called up instead of Zack Collins in August. Skole had a .511 OPS, with no home runs and 31 strikeouts in 72 at-bats.
Hey, remember when Goins had a 1.027 OPS with the White Sox in July? For two weeks, the 31-year-old veteran was the best player on the team and then he fell back to Earth in August. Goins played in 52 games with the White Sox in 2019.
