The White Sox are altering their rotation a bit this weekend, as they've decided to skip Dallas Keuchel's next scheduled start.
The left-handed veteran was slated to pitch against the Tigers on Saturday, but he's going to be held back at least a few days. The team hopes Keuchel will be ready to start against the Twins following the Tigers series.
White Sox manager Rick Renteria said the decision was made out of caution.
As of now Lucas Giolito is locked in to start the series opener on Friday against Detroit, while the weekend starters are still up in the air.
There's a good chance you'll see lefty Gio Gonzalez start on Saturday. He was recently added back to the 28-man roster after missing time because of a groin strain.
Keuchel last pitched Sunday against the Royals, going five shutout innings. However, he was pulled after throwing only 49 pitches and Renteria said the pitcher has been dealing with a stiff back this season.
Keuchel has been excellent for the White Sox, going 6-2 in nine starts, with a 2.19 ERA and 1.05 WHIP.
