The injury stems from a seventh-inning slide at home plate Thursday night. Jimenez was pulled from the game afterward. Via the Chicago Sun-Times.
Not only has Jimenez killed the Cubs in his career, slashing .320/.414/.760 with three homers in seven games, he's also established himself as a good all-around hitter in 2020, posting an overall slash line of .296/.332/.559, with 14 homers. The White Sox will now go with Adam Engel in left field against the Cubs.“Right now we’re just straight up day to day,” manager Rick Renteria said. “There is some inflammation in there we want to calm down. We’ll know more where we’re at in a few days after getting it treated.” Whether the injury prevents Jimenez from participating in the postseason isn’t known.
The White Sox are currently one game behind the Twins in the AL Central division.
