The postseason is underway and the experts are weighing in on how far the Chicago White Sox will go. The White Sox are one of the most intriguing teams in the postseason tournament. At the helm is Tony La Russa, a 77-year-old Hall of Famer they dragged out of retirement. They have a former MVP at first base. One of the faces of baseball at shortstop. The star of a music video at third base. A Big Baby in left field. A Panther in centerfield. Superman in right field. A loud Australian at closer and a starting rotation that features the worst pitcher in baseball in 2018, a bulldog from Indiana, and a yogi, a former Cy Young winner, and the owner of the 20th no-hitter in franchise history. These are just a few of the colorful cast of characters that supplement the White Sox roster. The Chicago White Sox have one of the deepest rosters in the American League but a lot of question marks surrounding them. They finished the regular season with a 93-69 record. It was good enough to place them atop the AL Central standings. They did all of this despite being hampered with injuries for most of the season. However, the White Sox have a tough first-round draw in the Houston Astros. Their inconsistent play in September along with a mediocre road record is cause for concern. It makes pegging where the White Sox will end up at the end of the playoffs very difficult. These so-called experts tried. Here is where they picked the White Sox to finish.

Ben Verlander

FOX Sports MLB analyst Ben Verlander has the White Sox winning the World Series. He predicts the White Sox will make it past the Astros in the ALDS and meet the Rays in the ALCS. After disposing of the Rays he has the White Sox topping the Milwaukee Brewers in the World Series. In late July the White Sox took on the Brewers in Milwaukee. They lost the first two games 7-1 and 6-1 but managed to steal the Sunday night game 3-1. It took a heroic effort from Lance Lynn who drove in a run with an RBI single and pitched six innings.

CBS Sports

CBS Sports writer Matt Snyder has the White Sox being bounced in the first round of the playoffs. In fact, CBS entire postseason staff of MLB writers picked the Astros to beat the White Sox in the ALCS. The staff consists of Dayn Perry, Mike, Axisar, RJ Anderson and, Katherine Acquavella.

ESPN

ESPN had 24 people pick the Astros to win the ALDS. Some notable names that have the Astros ending the White Sox season include Buster Olney, Jeff Passan, and Matt Vasgersian. Only 12 people picked the White Sox to advance. Jason Benetti was one of the people who picked the White Sox. Joon Lee was another and he explained his pick by writing: "The White Sox boasts one of the most talented teams in baseball. With Luis Robert and Eloy Jimenez out for large stretches, the team didn't have its full-strength lineup for much of this season. The White Sox presents a formidable group of pitchers with Lance Lynn and Lucas Giolito joined by surprising performers Carlos Rodon and Dylan Cease. And finally, the bullpen featuring Craig Kimbrel, Garrett Crochet, and Michael Kopech is built for the postseason." Six of those 12 had the White Sox advancing to the World Series. Only three of them had the White Sox winning the World Series. Those three were Benetti, Peterson, and Yates.

Jon Paul Morosi of MLB.com has the White Sox winning the World Series. He predicts the White Sox will beat the Houston Astros in five games, then the Tampa Bay Rays in six games. In the World Series, he has the White Sox beating the Atlanta Braves in six games to take home the title. He even takes it a step further by predicting that Dylan Cease will win World Series MVP. Sarah Langs has the White Sox beating the Astros in five games but falling short in the ALCS. She predicts the Rays will win in six games. Nathalie Alonso also has the White Sox losing to the Rays in the ALCS. Anthony Castrovince has the Astros winning the series in five games. But Castrovince admitted that he is horrible at predictions so took the Geroge Castanza approach by writing down who he thought would win then picking the opposite. Mark Feinsand took the Astros in four games. Alyson Footer, Andrew Simon, Mike Petriello, and David Venn also took the Astros. Jesse Sanchez took the White Sox to win beat the Astros in the ALDS but losing to the Rays in seven in the ALCS. Will Leitch has the White Sox making it to the World Series but losing to the Dodgers in six games.

Bleacher Report

Bleacher Report picked the Astros to knock out the White Sox in four games. Their argument was that Houston has more stability in the starting rotation with Lance McCullers Jr., Framber Valdez, and Luis Garcia. The home-field advantage seals the deal for them.

The MLB Network analyst predicted the White Sox would win it all.

Sports Illustrated

Only one of Sports Illustrated's writers had the White Sox making the World Series. That writer was Will Laws. However, Law has the White Sox dropping the 1959 World Series rematch to the Dodgers in five games.
