Yasmani Grandal Denies Bitch-Slapping Tim Anderson

The Chicago White Sox have been very bad in 2023, but for everyone else who doesn't care about their record, they've also been pretty damn entertaining, especially as of late. The latest drama surrounded Yasmani Grandal, who is rumored to have started a fight inside the White Sox clubhouse by slapping a defenseless Tim Anderson.

The story was revealed by Shane Riordan, the executive producer of the Parkins & Spiegel Show on 670 The Score, during Monday's show. According to Riordan, the scuffle happened on July 9, when the White Sox were playing their final game prior to the All-Star break. Grandal wasn't in the starting lineup and apparently wanted to leave early for his vacation. Anderson, who was inside of a tub, wasn't happy with Grandal's attitude and proceeded to tell Grandal that if he really wanted to leave he would pay for his flight himself.

Grandal allegedly responded by going over and slapping Anderson across the face, while Anderson was still sitting in the tub and the two players needed to be separated. Here is the story from Monday's Parkins & Spiegel Show.

Grandal spoke to reporters before Monday's series opener against the New York Yankees and denied the story from Riordan.

"Definitely not," Grandal said. "This is unreal. Especially the fact that they said it was a day before the all-star break. I'll tell you one thing. The one thing I was thinking about that day, especially after that game, was, 'Let's go to this lake house I have rented with my family, because I haven't spent a lot of time with them.'"

Anderson, who was back in the starting lineup on Monday, was not made available to the media and has not spoken to reporters since his fight with Jose Ramirez on Saturday in Cleveland.

During Monday's game against the Yankees, Anderson was taken out because of an arm issue. The White Sox announced that Anderson was removed from the game with a bruised left forearm. Anderson did get x-rays, that were negative and he's now day-to-day.

Earlier on Monday, the league also announced suspensions for the players involved in Saturday's fight. Anderson got six games, which he is appealing.

Rick Hahn also spoke on Monday and he pushed back on comments made by right-handed pitcher Keynan Middleton.

Grandal was also publicly named by ESPN reporter Jesse Roger as one of the players who hasn't exactly endeared himself with his teammates, specifically pitchers during his time with the White Sox.
