Chicago Bears fans undoubtedly saw what happened Thursday night in Seattle. The Green Bay Packers took a 14-3 lead in the first half against the Seahawks. It looked like one of their trademark runs during the second half of the season was set to get underway. Then, surprisingly, the wheels came off. Seattle rallied down the stretch and stunned legions of green and gold fans with a 27-24 win.
It was an absolutely crippling loss. Green Bay not only fell to 4-5-1 on the season, but it also might end up costing them a potential wild card spot if it's Seattle they end up in a tiebreaker with. Don't expect Packers fans to believe that's remotely possible. A lot of them are angry. Or maybe raging is a more accurate depiction.
Where is it all funneled to? That would be Mike McCarthy. It's been felt that the veteran head coach landed on the hot seat after failing to make the playoffs last year. However, things went into overdrive after this game where he made two crucial mistakes that ended up costing his team the game.
He failed to challenge a catch by Seahawks receiver Tyler Lockett that replays showed was clearly incomplete. Then he punted on 4th and 2 with four minutes left from his own 33, knowing full well he had just one timeout left and that his defense had allowed two straight scoring drives. Seattle got the ball, secured two first downs and ran out the clock to win.
Packers nation officially lost their minds after that.
