The Chicago Bears know they have to make the most out of the few picks they have for this 2019 draft. They only have five and none of them come in the 1st or 2nd round. That puts the pressure on GM Ryan Pace and his scouts to dig up possible hidden gems who can help this team get better. They've done it before with the likes of Eddie Jackson, Tarik Cohen, Adrian Amos, and Jordan Howard.
One position though that remains somewhat in flux is
That is why they've been busy meeting with potential options who could be available in the 3rd round or later at the end of April. A new name just got added to that list.
Ronheen Bingham lacks size but not quickness or violence
Typically players who come out of smaller schools really need to stand out in order to get drafted, either on tape or the stat sheet. Ronheen Bingham accomplished both tasks in 2018 for Arkansas State. He had nine sacks and 18.5 tackles for a loss in just 12 games. The film shows as player that is swift, agile, and surprisingly strong for somebody on the smaller side for a defensive end.
He doesn't take plays off, showcasing a ton of energy and violence with his body and hands to get himself free into the backfield. He plays with good leverage, consistently being able to get under the blocks of bigger offensive linemen. The concern teams will have is whether he can survive in the NFL being 6'2 and under 250 lbs.
This is why most see him as an outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme. Hence the Bears' interest. It's likely Bingham will be an option on Day 3 of the draft. Somewhere between the 5th and 7th rounds. Maybe even a priority undrafted free agent. He has talent to work with for sure.
