The McCaskeys have never fired a head coach midseason in their long history of owning the Chicago Bears. Could that streak finally come to an end this year? Matt Nagy is making that decision difficult for them. SM reported that they are reluctant to do so given how much they like and respect him. However, both internal and external pressure is getting to a point where they may not have a choice.
Now it appears that choice has been made. According to Mark Konkol of Patch.com, the plan is to have Nagy finish out the week as head coach for the Thursday game in Detroit on Thanksgiving. Then after it is over, they will part ways with him. Konkol is a former reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times and a Pulitzer Prize winner. This information isn't coming from just anywhere. The fact he is reporting it is significant and can be taken seriously.
"For disgruntled Bears fans looking for something to be thankful for after five-straight losses, this is it. Matt Nagy will coach his last game for the Bears on Thanksgiving in Detroit, a top source with knowledge of the decision told Patch. Nagy was informed of his pending post-Turkey Day termination on Monday, the source said."
