They have been asked to evaluate the whole of the offensive operation. Now, I'm asking each my fellas to predict where the Bears offense will rank in yards per game this year. The Bears ranked 32nd in the league a year ago. Ben Johnson's Lions ranked 2nd.
Executive: "What a stupid question. I'll say 14th. What's funny is the stats folks have discounted this stat mostly but it's still a pretty damn accurate tool to assess an offense." (I left in his criticism of me for your enjoyment.)
Area Scout: "16th. How's that for taking no risk whatsoever? Right down the middle."
Pro Personnel Assistant: "8th. I think Ben is that good a coach. If they don't jump at least 20 spots, it'll be on the quarterback."
Former Personnel (Now Media): "14th. But I wouldn't be surprised to see them anywhere from 10-18. Ben will improve them dramatically in year one. And I think year two they could be top five group."
