Welcome to the 2019-20 Bulls season AND breaking news, Chandler Hutchison has a hamstring injury.
The 23-year-old played in 44 games during his rookie season last year, but it was cut short after suffering a right toe fracture in January. Hutchison, who was drafted with the 22nd overall pick in 2018, returned from that injury and played in four summer league games back in July.
Of course the Bulls didn't give any specific timetable for Hutchison, but we all know hamstring injuries tend to stick around for several weeks. The Bulls start training camp later in September and open up preseason play on Oct. 7. Their first regular season game is on Oct. 23.
Hutchison averaged 5.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in 20.3 minutes per game last season, while shooting 45.9% from the field and 28% from 3-point range. After rehabbing from his foot injury, the forward averaged 13.5 points in the summer league, however he only shot 29% overall.
Not the best way to start preparation for the upcoming season, as the Bulls don't have much depth behind Zach LaVine and Otto Porter Jr. at the wing. Denzel Valentine missed all of last year after getting ankle surgery and his recovery has been coming along slowly. Now, Hutchison will be dealing with a hamstring issue.
