The Cubs made one final deal on Monday, acquiring right-handed hitting outfielder Cameron Maybin from the Tigers.
ESPN's Jeff Passan was the first to report the deal, coming after the Cubs also added lefty relievers Andrew Chafin and Josh Osich in separate trades with the Diamondbacks and Red Sox, respectively.
In exchange for Maybin, the Cubs are sending infielder Zack Short to the Tigers.
Maybin, 33, can play all three outfield positions, but unlike José Martínez, who the Cubs traded for on Sunday and hits lefties very well, Maybin's splits are fairly even.
He's actually been better against right-handed pitching.

It's not the most perfect fit and obviously Maybin isn't coming in to start, but you can't say the bench didn't get better. It did and that was really the goal for the Cubs at the trade deadline, making at least some marginal upgrades on the roster.
From an offensive perspective, it didn't really matter what the Cubs did in trades. This team is going to win or lose based on how the core produces.
