Well, maybe Rick Hahn is certainly busy on the phone during this trade deadline. The Chicago White Sox have now made their third trade in the past couple days. The latest is with the Houston Astros, who are acquiring right-handed reliever Kendall Graveman.
Earlier on Friday, the White Sox traded Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Two days ago, Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez were dealt to the Los Angeles Angels. Now, a fifth pitcher is being shipped out of the South Side to a playoff contender.
Graveman, 32, is still under contract through the 2024 season. The White Sox signed the right-handed reliever to a three-year, $24 million deal prior to the 2021 season.
According to Passan, the White Sox are getting catcher Korey Lee.
Lee, 25, was taken with the 32nd overall pick by the Astros in the 2019 MLB Draft. The right-handed hitter made his big-league debut during the 2022 season with Houston, appearing in 12 games during his first taste in the majors. The catcher has played in 68 games at Triple-A this year, posting a .283/.328/.406, slash line, with five home runs in 302 plate appearances.
Lee was ranked as Houston's No. 5 prospect according to MLB Pipeline.

Though Lee has quieted his load and shortened his stride as a pro, he's still an extreme power-over-hit guy. A right-handed hitter, he has gotten better at pulling and launching pitches, enabling him to get more out of his well-above-average pop that mostly plays to his pull side. But he has done so at the expense of his approach. He spent most of 2022 trying to crush pitches over the left-field fence and chasing offspeed pitches out of the zone, and his strikeout rate rose to 29 percent from 19 percent the previous year.
Lee didn't become a full-time catcher until 2019 and has yet to start more than 73 games behind the plate in a pro season. While he's quicker and more athletic than most backstops and features plus-plus arm strength, his receiving and blocking skills draw mixed reviews. The Astros believe he can become an average defender with more experience, but scouts outside the organization question whether he'll be adequate enough to catch regularly in the Majors.
