Keep adding guys who throw hard and one is going to pay off, right?
The White Sox have claimed right-handed pitcher Tayron Guerrero off waivers from the Marlins and although his career numbers are flat out bad, they're taking a flyer on him because the dude can throw hard. Guerrero's fastball averaged almost 100mph in 2019 with the Marlins.
Guerrero has thrown 106 innings in the majors, 104 coming in the last two season with Miami. His issue? The righty can throw as hard as anyone in baseball, but he doesn't really know where it's going. Last year in 46 innings Guerrero walked 36 batters. That's more than seven walks per nine innings and more than 5.5 walks per 9IP in his short MLB career.
Guerrero has a 5.77 ERA in 113 MLB relief appearances.
So, a minor pick up for the White Sox. Just a guy who they'll try to get his control...under control.
