After a series win against the Blue Jays this past weekend the White Sox immediately killed all the good vibes in the fan base as they announced updates on some of their injured players. The only positive news is that Eloy Jimenez will begin a rehab assignment on Tuesday at Triple-A. However, the team revealed that Carlos Rodon will have Tommy John surgery and right-handed reliever Nate Jones will have season-ending surgery too.
The team also announced that top-10 prospect Micker Adolfo will also have season-ending elbow surgery.
Adolfo, the eight ranked prospect in the White Sox minor league system, rose to prominence in 2018 after he had a .833 OPS in 79 games. However, the right-handed hitting outfielder had Tommy John last year and is now having surgery on the same elbow for the second straight season.
After coming back from Tommy John surgery, Adolfo made his 2019 debut on April 5. He played in 23 games and slashed .205//.337/.295, with no home runs and nine RBIs in 78 at-bats.
But back to some positive news. Eloy could rejoin the White Sox as soon as next week, when they start a road trip in Houston.
Meanwhile Zack Collins and Seby Zavala are expected to be back in Triple-A very soon.
Still, very miserable times for White Sox fans.
